Information on Coronavirus (Covid-19)

What changes should you make in the use of your fingerprint readers or your access control system?

Wash your hands before and after using any contact reader such as pin code or fingerprint reader

Your biometric readers are one of many common objects that you must handle on a daily basis and that are impossible to avoid. Wash your hands before / after each use, just like for doors or door handles, metro bars, shopping carts, or using the toilet.

Biometric readers can promote better hygiene

Using hydroalcoholic hand gel after handling a biometric reader and then door handle can promote better hygiene. There is no onwards transferable contamination onto further door handles or common surfaces. Placing your finger on a reader is a conscious decision, whereas opening a door isn’t always. Take advantage of this conscious action by tying it in with sanitising hands every time.

Follow the recommendations of the UK and Irish Governments

Most people who are infected usually have only mild or cold-like symptoms. However, the coronavirus can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, the elderly, and those with long-term illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, and chronic lung disease.
