• The type and number of security cameras: whether they will be internal or external or in a vandalism prone area.
• The complexity and scale of the installation: size of site, number of cameras, power supplies and network availability, whether they will be high up and require specialist installation equipment.
• Building construction: are there suspended ceilings or is it a listed building with restrictions, is there asbestos on site.
• Functionality: do you need specialist features such as temperature or mask detection, or people counting capabilities, is there a requirement for a specific resolution due to evidentiary needs.
• Monitoring: will it be self monitored, or will you require ARC monitoring and with or without Gardai response?
• Storage: will you store footage on site or would you want cloud storage.
• Maintenance: whether you want an all inclusive package or just supply and CCTV installation.

You need to make people aware that their image is being recorded, for what purpose and who is in charge of processing the data. CCTV cameras have a certain field of vision, depending on the type and lens. It is important to cover the vulnerable access points to your site and any high risk internal areas. We always conduct a site survey to discern which areas need protecting and whether alerts are required. Get in touch when you’d like us to conduct a free site survey.

When we survey your site, we will agree with you how many cameras you need. How much memory is needed on your Network Video Recorder will be determined by number of cameras and your frame rate.
Up to 30 days of recording is generally advisable and we will provide an NVR with sufficient memory to achieve this. After this point, footage is overwritten. You can download footage of incidents so you don’t lose them, but you should have a policy governing who can access footage, download it and where it is kept.
